We understand that cost can sometimes stand in the way of getting the care you need. At Richardson Eye Associates we never want that to be the case. Our first priority is caring for our patients. We make every effort to keep our fees affordable, even for patients not covered by insurance. When necessary, we are willing to make special arrangements for patients in need, so please don't hesitate to call us if you require special consideration.
For patients who do have insurance, we are network providers on most vision and medical insurance plans, including Medicare. We file all the necessary paperwork to have your insurance company make payments directly to us on your behalf. As a result, you are only responsible for your deductibles and co-payments at the time of service. In the unlikely event that we are not providers on your particular insurance plan, our highly experienced billing staff will help you file for "Out of Network" reimbursement.
We accept cash, checks and most credit cards for your portion of the fees.
VISION INSURANCE PLANS
Vision insurance plans like Vision Service Plan, Eyemed, Superior Vision and others provide benefits for routine eye exams including the cost of the refraction (checking your glasses prescription). They also provide coverage for optical materials like glasses and contact lenses. Many medical insurance plans like Blue Cross/Blue Shield and United Healthcare also have vision insurance benefits in addition to medical insurance benefits. Our knowledgeable billing staff is experienced in working with insurance providers to maximize your specific benefits and coverage. When you call to schedule an appointment, we will get all the information we need to get your benefits approved before your visit. This will give you the peace of mind that comes from knowing exactly what your insurance plan does and does not cover before your appointment.
MEDICAL INSURANCE PLANS
Most medical insurances will provide some coverage for office visits and eye examinations (not including the refraction) if a patient suffers from a medical eye condition like cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, eye infections, etc.. We are proud to be providers on most medical insurance plans like Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, United Healthcare and Cigna just to name a few. We are also participating providers on Medicare. In a day when many doctors are refusing to accept Medicare, or accept new patients who are on Medicare, we welcome the opportunity to care for seniors who are covered by Medicare. We also file secondary insurances on your behalf to cover the costs that your primary insurer might not cover.
SPENDING ACCOUNTS (FSA and HSA)
Many patients now have Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Accounts (HSA), sometimes referred to as "cafeteria plans". These are elective, supplemental insurance savings plans. These plans are designed to let you save money in an account, pre-tax, to pay for medical expenses. These funds can be used to pay for such expenses as eye exams, glasses, contact lenses, and often laser vision surgery. FSAs and HSAs can typically be used in conjunction with any vision or medical insurance plan to offset your out-of-pocket expenses. We accept direct payment from most of these accounts so that you don't have to pay "up front" and then wait to be reimbursed.
